The process for the production of Kraftliner and Semichemical Fluting starts with wood coming from the forest to the mill. Most of the wood is delivered to the mill in the form of pulpwood logs but also a substantial part is brought as wood chips from saw mills nearby. The pulpwood logs have to be debarked and chipped before further processing.
For every ton of pulp produced, the kraft pulping process produces about 10 tons of weak black liquor or about tons of black liquor dry solids that need to be processed through the chemical recovery process. This paper discusses the basic steps in the kraft recovery process, problems encountered and challenges in recovery

History. A precursor of the Kraft process was used during the Napoleonic Wars in England. The kraft process (so called because of the superior strength of the resulting paper, from the German word Kraft for ''strength'') was invented by Carl F. Dl in 1879 in Danzig, Prussia, Germany. Patent 296,935 was issued in 1884, and a pulp mill using this technology began in Sweden in 1890.

A process flow diagram (PFD) is a diagram commonly used in chemical and process engineering to indicate the general flow of plant processes and equipment. The PFD displays the relationship between major equipment of a plant facility and does not show minor details such as piping details and designations. Another commonly used term for a PFD is a flowsheet

THE PULP AND PAPER MILL Although there are several chemical and mechanical pulping methods used for delignifying wood (table 2l), separating fibers, and removing discoloration, all integrated pulp and paper mills involve the same general steps in the manufacture of pulp and paper. These steps include: 1 ) raw material
Our paper machines remove water from the fibre solution. At the start of the papermaking process, the solution comprises of roughly 1% fibre and 99% water. Diluting the paper fibres this way allows us to make thin, uniform paper. Step 3: Wire section. At the wet end of the paper machine sits the headbox, which distributes a uniform jet of
