WAPHCO has completed several technical and economic studies related to the establishment of a world class world scale major merchant grade phosphoric acid (MGA) production Project with an annual production capacity of 500,000 MTPY of P2O5. The Project shall be located in the Abu Tartour phosphate mine area in the New Valley Governorate.

The Arab Republic of Egypt is set to begin construction of a new phosphoric acid plant in Abu Tartur, a region in New Valley or El Wadi El Gedid Governorate in the southwestern part of the North African country, this coming month. This was revealed by the countrys Misr Phosphate Company following the authorization of capital worth US100M.
The 1billion project is expected to produce a total of one million tons of phosphoric acid a year, the minister said. He added that the project will be established on an area of 560,000 square meters and will have a storage capacity of 3 million square meters.

Misr Phosphate is one of the major companies producing phosphate rock concentrate in Egypt with production capacity of around 5 Million Tons a year from one of the biggest reserves in the world Abu Tartour located 50KM west of the city of El Kharga City, the capital of the New Valley Governate in the southwestern Egypt.
